Worldwide Shipping and Made-to-Order Lead Times: What to Expect

Most CarPartClassicX parts are made to order, so each item is produced after you place your order, usually within about 3 to 14 working days, and then dispatched for worldwide delivery. This page explains how the made-to-order process works, the regional transit times you can typically expect, and how customs and duties apply if you are ordering from outside the UK.

Why are parts made to order?

The reproduction interior and exterior trim parts we supply are produced by an EU workshop on a made-to-order basis. Rather than holding large amounts of finished stock, items are manufactured once an order is confirmed. This approach suits restoration work, where fitments are spread across many marques and models and demand for any single item can be hard to predict.

Because each part is produced individually, there is a short production window before your order ships. We aim to keep this to roughly 3 to 14 working days, though more involved items may sit at the longer end of that range.

How long does production take?

Production time is separate from shipping time. The made-to-order window covers manufacturing and preparation before the parcel is handed to the carrier. As a general guide:

  • Simpler items tend to be ready nearer the 3 to 7 working day mark.
  • More detailed or larger pieces can take closer to 10 to 14 working days.
  • Once your order is dispatched, transit time is added on top of the production window.

If you are working to a restoration deadline, it helps to order early and to factor in both the production stage and the shipping stage when planning.

Where do you ship to?

We offer worldwide delivery. Orders are sent using tracked courier services so you can follow your parcel from dispatch through to arrival. You can browse fitments across a wide range of marques in our parts collections, and all listed items are available for international shipping.

What are the typical delivery times by region?

Transit times depend on the destination and the service used, and they begin once your order leaves the workshop. As a rough guide for tracked courier delivery:

  • United Kingdom and Europe: often the quickest routes, commonly a few working days after dispatch.
  • North America: typically several working days, with customs clearance sometimes adding a little time.
  • Australia, New Zealand and wider Asia-Pacific: usually longer than European routes, so allow additional working days.

These are estimates rather than fixed dates. Every international parcel passes through customs in both the sending and receiving country, and clearance can occasionally add a day or two.

Do I pay customs duties or import taxes?

If you order from outside the UK and EU, your parcel may be subject to import duties, local taxes such as VAT or GST, and any handling fees charged by the carrier or your national customs authority. These charges are set by the destination country, not by us, and are the responsibility of the buyer.

A few points worth knowing:

  • Charges vary by country, by the declared value of the goods, and by local thresholds.
  • The carrier or customs broker usually handles the import declaration on arrival.
  • It is sensible to keep a copy of your order confirmation and invoice for your records.

If you are unsure how import charges apply where you live, your national customs website is the most reliable source, as rules and thresholds change from time to time.

Is delivery free?

We offer free delivery on orders over £99. Orders below that threshold are charged at the shipping rate shown at checkout, which reflects the destination and service used. Any import duties or local taxes that may apply on international orders are separate from the delivery charge and are handled by the destination country's customs process.

How should I plan my order?

To set realistic expectations, add the production window and the transit time together, and allow a margin for customs clearance on international orders. A practical approach is:

  • Place your order as early as your project timeline allows.
  • Allow roughly 3 to 14 working days for made-to-order production.
  • Add the regional transit estimate for your country.
  • For non-UK and non-EU orders, allow extra time for customs and be ready for any local import charges.
